HEARTFELT LIVING

It is all about becoming intimate with life itself

What Tantra means to me
For me, Tantra is not primarily about what we usually call sex.
It is about discovering and connecting to the life force that is already alive within each one of us — the energy that allows us to feel vibrant, connected, sensual and fully alive in every aspect of our lives.
When we become disconnected from this energy, we often feel it far beyond our sexuality. Life can begin to feel flat. We may function perfectly well, do everything we are supposed to do, and yet somehow feel that something is missing.
Tantra invites us back into relationship with this aliveness.
And perhaps the most beautiful discovery is that it is already within you.
What you may have been looking for outside yourself — through teachers, gurus, relationships or other external sources — is also there within you, waiting to be discovered.
You are your own guru.
The same life force that feeds our sexual energy is the energy that makes us feel vibrant, creative, curious and turned on by life itself.
When we begin to cultivate this energy, something starts to change.
We learn to cultivate it through rest, the right kind of movement, breath, awareness and authenticity.
And rest matters.
If you want to reignite your passion, sensuality or love life, you first need to create the right conditions. You cannot live constantly in fight-or-flight mode and at the same time expect yourself to feel open, juicy and turned on by life.
Relaxation is the first medicine.
I have spent many years studying and teaching Tantra, and I have seen how people can move from a feeling of emptiness and disconnection towards feeling deeply engaged with themselves and with life again.
Because we are not separate pieces.
Our sexuality, our creativity, our emotions, our relationships, our bodies and our longing for life belong to the same whole.
And when we begin to return to our natural capacity for rest, sensation and connection, something that may have been quiet for a very long time can begin to wake up.
Not something new.
Something that was there all along.
